Ford Ranger Extended Cab Sub Box
by Reynaldo Gonzalez Date Added: Thursday 11 June, 2009
I have a 1993 Extended Cab Ranger. After doing alot of research, I decided to buy this sub box. I bought it in September of 2007. When I received the box, the first thing I did was add screws about every 4 inches and added carpenter's wood glue to the inside seams to make sure that not an ounce of air would leak out. I bought a 20 oz. bag of poly-fill and added half of the bag to each side. I installed a pair of inexpensive Pioneer TS-W301R 12" 4 ohm subs in this box. I wired them in parallel and powered them with a Pioneer GM-7300M mono amp which puts out 360 watts rms at 2 ohms. With this combination I proceeded to hit 132 decibels!!! Not bad for $45 subs and a $100 amp. Imagine how loud it would be with higher powered subs and amp! I give a great deal of credit to the box. The down firing design works awesome in a Ranger!!! As and added benefit, even with two Pioneer amps mounted on top of this sub box, the slide out vinyl cover still fits. It actually clears the amps with about 1.5 inches. I keep the vinyl cover in place at all times and you can't even tell that there's a sub box under there! I also like the fact that the connections are in the back of the box and not on the underside like some others I saw for sale on eBay. This way you don't have to worry about added noise cause by the wires touching the subs or the bass making them vibrate. After almost two years, this sub box has been nothing but rock solid!!! I highly recommend it anyone!
